Biography
Louis Houwen is part of the semi-public corporate law department, which he co-leads. He specialises in administrative and governance issues of healthcare institutions, housing corporations, welfare and educational institutions, youth welfare and childcare as well as cultural institutions and government bodies. His practice focuses mainly on corporate law and governance advice, the development of joint ventures and network organisations and private initiatives as well as the setting up respectively the administrative organisation of group and corporate structures in the care sector, the social domain, education and social housing.
In the field of governance issues and the administrative organisation of social organisations and enterprises, Louis Houwen acts as an advisor to the BoZ: Brancheorganisaties Zorg and the professional associations of supervisors, the NVTZ, and for directors, the NVZD, Vereniging voor Bestuurders in de Zorg. In that context, he is involved as author and advisor in the drafting of the 2006 and 2010 Zorgbrede Governance Code, the revised Healthcare Governance Code 2017 and 2022 as well as the establishment and implementation of the Governance Committee of the Health Care Arbitration Tribunal. Louis Houwen chairs the Dutch Culture Governance Code Committee, which developed a fully revised Culture Governance Code in 2019.
