Biography
Milou is a lawyer in the healthcare section. Her focus is on privacy law in healthcare and classic health law (patients' rights, medical disciplinary law and quality legislation).
With her knowledge of privacy law and health law, Milou provides all-round practical advice to healthcare providers, professional associations in healthcare, municipalities and Municipal Health Centres, among others. Increasingly, parties in and outside healthcare cooperate and exchange (patient) data, or there is a need for cooperation and data exchange. Milou advises on the applicable frameworks for data exchange (privacy law and healthcare laws and regulations, including medical confidentiality) and the possibilities for shaping the exchange. She also assesses the privacy-law roles of cooperating parties and draws up appropriate agreements, always taking into account (together with fellow specialists) the full picture and not just privacy law. Milou successfully completed the Grotius specialisation course in privacy law.
Milou also advises and, if necessary, litigates on all kinds of health law issues. She is well-versed in the frameworks of the Wgbo, the BIG Act, the Wkkgz and the Wvggz, among others. Milou regularly assists healthcare providers in complaint and dispute procedures (under the Wkkgz and Wvggz) and individual healthcare providers during disciplinary proceedings.
