A meaningful return to the past
The Huis van Herinnering, located in the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, offers a carefully designed programme that helps elderly people with dementia reconnect with their memories. Set in a recreated 1960s–1970s family home, the experience brings the era back to life through sound, scent, taste, visuals and familiar objects. By stimulating the senses, memories that seemed lost can resurface, helping participants feel more grounded and boosting their sense of identity and confidence.

Empowering more elderly people
Through this partnership, Dirkzwager and the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum want to ensure that more people with dementia, and their caregivers, can benefit from the programme. Dirkzwager’s financial support will help expand access and enable further development of the initiative.
Close to the challenges that matter
This collaboration reflects Dirkzwager’s strategic focus. As a firm that stays close to the major challenges in society, we are committed to supporting sustainable healthcare. At the same time, we continue to invest in cultural institutions with national and international reach. The Huis van Herinnering brings these two domains together—where care and culture meet.
